INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

The Rhinotip™ has been designed to fit over the jet tip end of most popular brands of dental irrigators. You may buy premixed "normal saline," or use the recipe contained in this pamphlet (below). Once the saline is ready, put 6 oz. in the irrigation reservoir (a smaller reservoir may be needed to substitute for the 35 oz reservoir standard with most Waterpik units). With the solution in the reservoir the nose is irrigated according to instruction manual provided with each Rhinotip.

  • Additional free instruction manuals can be obtained by calling 1-801-501-4300 or emailing AndersonMD@aol.com.

Six ounces of fluid is usually adequate for an average treatment that includes both sides.

The reservoirs standard with most Waterpik units are a bit too large to effectively handle the small volumes used in nasal irrigation. Smaller reservoirs are available and are included with machine on order page.

Soft earplugs can be worn if the noise of the irrigation machine is bothersome.

CLEAN UP:

SEE INSTRUCTION MANUAL

Follow any other safety and care instructions provided with your dental irrigator unit. Be aware that dental irrigation manufacturers retain the right to void the warranty on their units for any use other than dental purposes. Nasal irrigation could void the warranty.

SALINE SOLUTION MIXTURE:

Use saline instead of water to irrigate the nose. Commercial "normal saline" may be purchased from local pharmacies or medical supply stores in one liter bottles. You can make your own saline solution using slightly warm, drinkable tap water, distilled water, or purified water, following the recipe below. Cold or Hot water should not be used. It is preferable to have it at body temperature or slightly warmer.

Saline Recipe
To six oz. of clean pure water (distilled or purified water may be preferable in some areas) add: 1/4 teaspoon plain, non-iodized salt, and 1/8 teaspoon baking soda and stir until dissolved. Don't allow mixed solutions to get old and stale before use.

FOR YOUR SAFETY:

Consult with your healthcare professional beforehand to see if there are any anatomic or medical reasons why you should not practice nasal irrigation. Individuals with special health considerations, head or facial injuries or unusual anatomy should always consult with a physician before irrigating.

PRECAUTIONS
